Welcome!
When starting Danta's, I thought of everything to make sure you’d love the taste of our coffee every single day. I also wanted to ensure it would shine in every drink — whether warm or iced.
Guatemalan coffee is truly one of the best in the world. Thanks to its high altitude, unique growing conditions, and ideal climate, it develops rich chocolatey tones balanced with bright, fruity notes you won’t easily find elsewhere.
Yes, Guatemalan coffee is special but this isn’t just the about the beans — it’s also the roasting, the fine-tuned espresso machine settings, and, most importantly, the love we pour into every cup.
About me
I grew up surrounded by coffee plants, but I never imagined how far those beans could go until I took a barista course — and later, a roasting course. That’s when I discovered the science, precision, and craft behind every cup. What began as curiosity quickly became my passion.
I’ve always been a perfectionist — a trait instilled in my Guatemalan household — and I channel that into creating the best possible experience for my guests.
Your joy is my greatest motivation, and it’s the reason I put so much care into every detail here.

Why Belgium
Many people ask me this. I originally came to study Business Economics, with every intention of going back home afterward. But I fell in love — not only with the country, but also with its coffee culture.
In Guatemala, coffee as a drink isn’t valued in the same way it is here. The same happens with other treasures, like our spice cardamom: around 95–99% is exported, while very little is used locally. Guatemalans drink coffee, of course, but not with the same appreciation and ritual that Europeans bring to it.
That’s when I knew Belgium was the right place to share my passion — a place where the quality of the cup is celebrated, and where my love for coffee could truly be valued.
Why Danta's
No, it’s not my last name, as many people think.
A danta — also known as the Central American tapir — is a gentle, endangered animal native to Guatemala and other parts of Central America.
Why this animal? Because its story inspires me. The danta plays an important role in the ecosystem: it spreads seeds, helps forests regenerate, and supports biodiversity. Yet despite all it gives, it has long been undervalued and is now at risk of disappearing.
To me, the danta symbolizes resilience, generosity, and hidden purpose — much like coffee farmers and other farmers who work tirelessly, often without receiving the recognition they deserve.
Naming the bar after it is my way of honoring that spirit and sharing its story with the world.
